On street locations for EV Chargers
KCC have been allocated ring-fenced funding from the Office of Zero Emissions Vehicles for the delivery of on-street public chargers across Kent. We are currently in the final stages of procuring a private ChargePoint operator to work with us to deliver the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) network of up to 10,000 on-street public EV chargers. We are planning an equitable roll-out across the county aimed at streets where there are houses without off-street parking, but we plan to install in stretches of road that don’t impact frontages to limit disruption as much as we can. One example in Tovil we have identified is Wharf Road, just down from the junction with Church Road. The delivery phase of the project will be 10 years, therefore it is difficult to estimate when any installs may begin in Tovil.
As part of the process, we are inviting residents, Parish Councils, and businesses to suggest suitable on-street locations for EV chargers. If you wish to participate, please visit letstalk.kent.gov.uk/on-street-ev the interactive map should let you drop multiple pins for any areas you feel would be ideal locations.
